The Christian Educators’ Professional Association seeks to connect, sharpen, encourage and support Christian educators. CEPA Central plays a key role is meeting these aims. The forum moderator’s willingness to be involved in moderating a forum is appreciated.
Forum guidelines and procedures
Stimulate, direct and nurture discussion
The principal role of moderator is to nurture the discussion of the forums. They will suggest resources, pose questions, encourage connections and direct people to think biblically where appropriate. In the early life of the forum, their role will have a greater focus on stimulating and germinating discussion and will shift more into a nurturing role as the community and connections begin to reach critical liftoff.
Manage the resources
These forums are designed differently to most. A contributor is able to attach a resource to a post and this resource is then stored in the resource section for easy access and searchability. The resource is not automatically added to the resource section. It is moderated first. When the moderator views the forum posts, those posts that have a resource attached will have a button (only showing for the moderator) that will be asking them to add the resource to the resources section. If they feel that this is an appropriate resource, they then save it to the appropriate folder. The moderator also manages the folder structure, creating additional folders as appropriate.
Assessing appropriateness of resources
The moderator might reject a resource if it is copyrighted. This could become difficult when it is material produced by the contributor in their role as a staff member of a school. Most schools claim intellectual property rights on all material produced by the staff, however, it will be assumed that schools are willing to share and support each other and Christian education at large. If, by the nature of the submission, the moderator is in any doubt, they will ask the contributor to simply check with the appropriate person at the school before the resource is saved into the folders. The moderator may deem a resource irrelevant or sub-standard.
Assessing appropriate posts
The moderator of a forum will have the ability to delete posts. When viewing the post list within the forum there will be a “delete post” option only visible for the moderator. They may delete any post that disregards the Forum Use Guidelines.
